Saint-Jean-Brévelay: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Église Saint-Jean-de-Berveley is of Romanesque origin. On the south side of the nave, among other features, a portal with two concentric round arches has been preserved; the Romanesque portal has been partially protected as a historic monument since 13 February 1929.

Trails and landscape

The long-distance hiking trail GR 38 crosses Saint-Jean-Brévelay from east to west via the Butte de Justice and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The La petite forêt circular trail is 8.5 kilometres long and marked as a PR hiking trail with a blue dot; one section follows the GR 38.

Culture and history

The Chapelle St Thuriau has three elaborately decorated doors featuring elements of Renaissance and Flamboyant Gothic architecture. Near Le Moustoir, the Roh Koh Koët dolmen, also known as Kerhern Bodunan, lies in a forest; it has a 6-metre-long capstone. The Menhir de Colého is just under 6 metres high and has cup marks on its south side.

In the vicinity of Saint-Jean-Brévelay lies the Église Saint-Sauveur et Saint-Colomban, a ruin. The Menhirs Babouin et Babouine, a historic site, are also located nearby. At the Chapelle St Marc there is a Christianized menhir and a spring. The Goh Menhir can be reached on foot from one of the megaliths.

In the wider regional surroundings of Saint-Jean-Brévelay lies the Château de Josselin, a château, as well as Largoet Castle, a historic site. Also located in the same wider regional surroundings of Saint-Jean-Brévelay are Plage de Kerbilouet, plage de la Villeneuve, plage de Montsarrac and Plage de Brouhel; each of these named sites is a beach.
