Lanester: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Lanester, the Kerhervy boat graveyard lies on the Blavet. It contains tuna boats that were formerly stationed on Île de Groix. Two 37-metre-high granite pillars remain from the original Pont du Bonhomme.

Culture and history

Since opening in 1992, Galerie La Rotonde has hosted almost 200 exhibitions and artists. Today, it presents contemporary art through several exhibitions organised each year, guided tours with commentary and educational programmes for all age groups.

The cultural calendar includes the Kerhervy Amateur Theatre Festival, which takes place at the open-air amphitheatre at the end of June or beginning of July. Historical traces can also be found on the Scorff: the remains of the fortifications at Kerhono were built in 1746 for the military defence of the left bank. The railway viaduct over the Scorff was designed by Gustave Eiffel and inaugurated by Napoleon III in 1862.

The Parc à bois de Saint-Isidore is a remnant of the system used to store and preserve timber in water for shipyards. Several chapels add to this historical setting. The Chapelle de Locunel was rebuilt in the 18th century and restored in 1960; it houses a polychrome wooden statue of Saint Anne. After extensive restoration work, it reopened its doors on 20 September and is open on the third Sunday in September for the celebration of the Pardon.

The Chapelle St Yves du Resto was rebuilt after the 1939–1945 war and contains remarkable polychrome statues. The Romanesque Chapelle de St Guénaël dates from the 11th century and was restored in the 15th and 20th centuries. Inside are two statues of the saint and two votive offerings.

Nature

The Moulin du Plessis loop runs along the Blavet and passes Saint-Guénaël over approximately 7.7 kilometres. The Marais de la Goden offers another aspect of the landscape: this 22.8-hectare sensitive natural area comprises saltwater and brackish wetlands.

Leisure

Parc du Plessis features paths, playgrounds, football pitches and a fitness trail for walking, playing and sporting activities. Water sports are available at Centre Nautique Gilles Gahinet: the nautical centre of Lanester Canoë Kayak Club is located at Rue du Bol d'Air, 56600 Lanester. The club runs a paddling school and offers adults a wide range of leisure activities as well as a Sport-Santé programme.

La Tyrolienne is an adventure park in a four-hectare forest with twelve courses and a 150-metre-long mega zip line. Archery Tag is also offered outdoors for teams of 4 to 20 people; game sessions last 30 minutes or one hour.

The Patinoire du Scorff has an 800-square-metre ice rink for skating and offers public skating sessions as well as classes for beginners and experienced skaters. Piscine Aqualane’s has a swimming pool, a water slide and massage jets.

Lanester's skatepark is a 980-square-metre concrete skatepark. It is freely accessible year-round and can be used for skateboarding, BMX riding, roller skating and scootering.
