Nature

The Treac'h er Goured dune system comprises embryonic, white, grey and fossil dunes. Houat is home to several hundred plant species, accounting for almost one third of the flora of Morbihan. The Houat archipelago also provides breeding habitat for Manx shearwaters and European storm petrels.

Houat's south coast is described as wild and unspoilt and features cliffs and coves. On the east coast, a dune belt stretches for more than 2 kilometres at Treac'h er Goured. A coastal path leads around Houat and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic, the cliffs and the beaches.

Culture

It also rents out stand-up paddleboards, sea kayaks, catamarans and windsurfing boards. The activities also include guided kayaking tours around Houat and sunset excursions.

Getting around

Motor vehicles are prohibited on Houat; the island is explored on foot or by bicycle. GlazGo Mobilité can transport people and luggage from Houat harbour to the village or the reception area. There is no cash machine on Île d'Houat.
