Guémené-Sur-Scorff: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Guémené-sur-Scorff is a medieval town on the River Scorff. One of the townscape’s special places is Les Bains de la Reine, a medieval steam bath with a museum area dedicated to the history of hygiene in the Middle Ages. Guided tours with a guide and self-guided visits are both possible there. Les Bains de la Reine is also associated with Jeanne de Navarre and Jean Ier de Rohan.

Culture and history

The present-day Notre-Dame de la Fosse church dates from the 19th century. It preserves former choir stalls whose carved panels adorn the side altars. A bell tower built in 1761 stands about 50 metres from Notre-Dame de la Fosse.

Another historic landmark is the Hôtel des Princes. It is a remnant of medieval houses built in the 16th century; its half-timbered façade preserves three superimposed awnings.

Local tradition

The Maison de l’Andouille welcomes visitors all year round in its boutique in Guémené-sur-Scorff. Every andouille is made there on site according to a family recipe and using traditional expertise. The Fête de l’Andouille was established more than 20 years ago by members of the Brotherhood of Andouille. It serves to promote their artisanally produced product, the town of Guémené-sur-Scorff and its surrounding area.

In the surrounding area

The wider region around Guémené-sur-Scorff is home to the ruins of Abbaye Notre-Dame de Bon-Repos, as well as the historic sites Abbaye Notre-Dame de Langonnet and Pontivy Castle. The Église Notre-Dame church is also located nearby.
