Trans-La-Forêt: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Maison du Sabot is a museum in Trans-la-Forêt dedicated to the making of wooden shoes. It is located in the former workshop of Trans-la-Forêt’s last clog maker, Ferdinand LAIGLE. Admission is free and the Maison du Sabot is freely accessible; guided tours are available by reservation.

Culture and history

The parish church of Saint-Pierre preserves Gothic remains in the choir and nave. Its south wall contains a 15th-century door, while the entrance porch tower was built in 1788.

The “Echappées Baie – Des Vikings au duché de Bretagne” hiking trail follows the history of the Villecartier Forest and the traces of a former Viking camp. It also covers the battle that drove the invaders back, as well as the emergence of the Duchy of Brittany. The route is 4 km long and takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Nature and trails

Trans-la-Forêt has a municipal pond managed and used by a local anglers’ association. The Circuit de l’Étang de la Magentais is listed in Trans-la-Forêt as hiking route 22.

The Trans-la-Forêt–La Boussac horse-riding loop has a picnic area at Étang Magentais.

Experiences

Sightseeing flights over the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and along the coast as far as Saint-Malo depart from the Aire de la Forêt microlight airstrip in Trans-la-Forêt. The microlight aircraft has an enclosed, heated cabin, making flights possible in all seasons.

Local markets

The Marché à la ferme de la Vallée offers, among other things, seasonal fruit and vegetables, beef, veal and lamb, as well as honey. The market takes place in a covered hall and, in addition to shopping, offers the opportunity to linger over a drink or a small sweet treat. In the La Vallée locality of Trans-la-Forêt, it takes place from 1 May to 30 October 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m.
