Parigné: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Tourbière de Landemarais is a 26-hectare natural area protected and developed by the département. It is classified as a peat bog of national interest and is one of only three raised bogs in Brittany. The discovery trail, equipped with information panels, offers opportunities to observe wildlife and birds from an observation point.

Culture

The Église Notre-Dame is open to the public. It features a blue-and-ochre vault and three pairs of beam ornaments carved in the shape of crocodiles. Several tombstones have been preserved in the cemetery of the Église Notre-Dame, including the tombstone of René de Gaulay, Seigneur du Bois Guy, bearing a sword and a cross, as well as a covered heraldic cross.

The nave of the Église Notre-Dame appears to date from the 14th century; the south portal dates from the 15th century. The Chapelle Saint-Roch has well-preserved wood panelling from the time of Louis XIV and an ancient stone statue of the Virgin Mary, which was found in the foundations of the choir of the Église Notre-Dame.

History

At the Manoir des Acres, an outbuilding remodelled in the 18th century is still preserved. It has a pointed-arch portal, a coat of arms in the tympanum and a polygonal tower without its upper termination. After the original manor disappeared, the Manoir des Acres became the seat of the Seigneurie de Parigné.

The Manoir de la Tandrais was rebuilt under the name Château de la Villegontier. The chapel of the Manoir de la Tandrais is built in large ashlar masonry; above its round-arched portal is a pointed-arch window with a tracery mullion.

Historical sites in the area around Parigné include Montfromery Tower, Nichot Tower, Fougères Castle and Our Lady Gate.

Leisure

Since around October 2018, Golf du Bois-Guy has had a 9-hole course from which the landscape around the château can be viewed. Fishing for rudd, carp, perch and trout is practised at Étang des Quatre Vents.
