Luitré: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At the top of the hill stands the headframe of the Mine de Montbelleux, visible for several kilometres. Culture, trails and natural sites give Luitré other clearly recognisable facets.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Martin has a Latin-cross floor plan, a bell tower with a porch and a polygonal chancel. Its 12th-century tower has been restored and remodelled several times, including in 1701 and 1850.

The cemetery calvary associated with Luitré dates from the 16th century. The granite cross of Bas-Bourg on the road to Fougères has a shaft and chamfered arms, allowing it to be dated to the 16th or 17th century.

Guided tours of the La Mine de Montbelleux mining site can be booked through the 3M Montbelleux association; groups are welcomed, including hikers and school classes.

Trails

The 24.4-kilometre blue cycle route Circuit vélo bleu can start in the centre of Luitré; on the Route de Fougères, there is a carpooling and motorhome parking area for this purpose. The Circuit du chevalier Roland circular route connects Luitré and Dompierre and can be started in Luitré.

Water and nature

The Etang des Rochers in Luitré is open to everyone; you can walk or jog along its landscaped and planted banks. Fishing is possible at the Luitré pond with a permit; the permit is sold at the Welcome's Bar.

Saut-Roland is a 40-hectare Espace Naturel Sensible owned by the Ille-et-Vilaine département. Saut-Roland features quartz cliffs and rocky landscapes along the Saint-Blaise River. The Saut-Roland rock offers 96 climbing routes.
