Trails

The Les Rotes des Huguenots hiking route begins at Place de la Mairie (Relais des Cultures) in Ercé-près-Liffré and leads through the Forêt de Haute-Sève. It is listed as 6.5 km long, with a duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The Les Rotes du Hen Herveleu route is 7.7 km long and is listed as taking 2 hours and 10 minutes; it leads to viewpoints.

History

Château du Bordage is situated on the Ilet River; today, the bases of two ruined towers and a residence remain. Château du Bordage was listed as a historic monument by decree of 11 September 2012.

The protected Château du Bordage estate comprises the residence, the Tour de l’Orient, the Tour aux chiens, two rabines to the north, and the entire area of cadastral parcels AC Nos. 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 48, 49, 50 and 51. Bordage became an important Calvinist centre and a place of refuge for Huguenots from the Rennes area.

Architecture

The parish church of Saint John the Baptist was rebuilt between 1847 and 1849 according to plans by the architect Jean-Marie Anger de la Loriais. Le Rocher des Amis is a small 16th-century manor house. L’Aubressonnière is a well-preserved manor house dating from the mid-17th century.

Culture

The Relais des Cultures is a preferred venue for community cultural activities, particularly for promoting Gallo culture, in partnership with the Gallo Tonic association. The Le Relais des Cultures media library is located in Ercé-près-Liffré.
