The “Dunes et côtes de Trévignon” area has been designated a Natura 2000 site since September 1997.

Natural Area and Coast

The “Dunes et étangs de Trévignon” natural area stretches for six kilometres. At the mouths of the coastal streams, a dune forms a natural barrier; behind it, seven ponds have formed.

Beach and Activities

Plage de la Baleine is also known as Plage de Trévignon. In summer, Plage de la Baleine has a watersports centre offering windsurfing and kitesurfing.

The guides from Bretagne Vivante organise nature excursions and coastal walks in Trévignon to explore the coast. Guided tours led by nature guides from the area are offered at the Étangs de Trévignon throughout the summer.

Routes to Pointe de Trévignon

The “La Trégunoise” cycle route includes a stop at Pointe de Trévignon, with views of the Glénan archipelago. The “Entre mer et terre autour de la Pointe de Trévignon” hike begins at the Maison du Littoral and follows the GR®34 to Pointe de Trévignon and its small harbour.

Lighthouse, Fortifications and Harbour

The square Phare de Trévignon stands on an island in the breakwater and is eight metres high. It was finally commissioned on the night of 1–2 November 1924.

At Pointe de Trévignon stands the privately owned Villa-Château, built at the beginning of the 20th century on foundations that may date from Vauban’s time in the 17th century. The former battery at Pointe de Trévignon preserves a powder magazine, a guardhouse, the battery site, fortification walls and a covered way.

The construction of the sea wall at Pointe de Trévignon at the end of the 19th century created a sheltered harbour for the region’s fishing boats. For 50 years, fishermen have been selling their seafood and marine products directly on the quays of Pointe de Trévignon.
