Plouguin: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Plouguin, the visible historical evidence ranges from Neolithic menhirs and chapels and churches to a mill valley. This includes the Rand'Abers 1 hiking route along the Aber Benoît on the GR34, with a loop through the Moulin valley of Plouguin.

Megaliths and chapels

The Menhir de Lannoulouarn is located in Lannoulouarn in Plouguin and has been classified as a historic monument since 27 March 1961. Also in Plouguin, near Kervignen, stands the Menhir de Kervignen-Bras. The Neolithic menhir has been classified as a historic monument since 5 September 1979.

The 18th-century Loc-Majan Chapel marks the site of an oratory founded by Saint Majan in the 6th century. Inside are tombstones bearing the coats of arms of the neighboring Trouzilit estate. The chapel also contains statues of Saint Majan, the Holy Trinity and Saint Anne dating from the late 17th or early 18th century.

The Saint-Herbot Chapel stands in the cemetery. It is a rectangular 17th-century building also known as Saint-Pirric. It houses statues of Saint Pirric as a hermit with a shell and of Saint Hervé with his wolf.

Churches and local history

The Church of Saint Peter was restored in 1867–1868 and built according to plans by Bigot dated 27 August 1864. Its choir features the multiply fluted forms of the Beaumanoir type. The church also contains a 17th-century Rosary altar.

Mills and landscape

The Moulin de Mesnaod, also known as the Grand-Moulin, lies at the mouth of the Garo before the Aber and marks the beginning of the Moulin valley of Plouguin. From Mesnaod to Pont-Ours, nine mills follow one another in this mill valley.

The Moulin de Pont-Ours, built entirely of stone, is visible on the descent from Plouguin into the valley. The dikes as well as the central and protective sluice gates have been preserved in its surroundings.

Hiking and cycling

All hiking, cycling and mountain-biking circular routes in Plouguin begin and end at the Salle Omnisports. The routes described include Rand'Abers 1, a hiking route along the GR34 on the Aber Benoît. The route also includes a loop through the Moulin valley of Plouguin. The section along the Aber Benoît follows the GR34 for approximately 5 kilometers.
