Blancs Sablons is a 2.5 km-long beach and a designated surf spot. The beach is located in an area protected by the Conservatoire du littoral and classified as Natura 2000.

History

The original urban area of Le Conquet faces the sea. The urban spaces there above the ria are characterised by masonry walls, ramps, stairways and small squares such as Place Saint-Christophe and Quai du Drellac’h.

The Sainte-Croix Church was built between 1856 and 1859. It is fully protected as a historic monument through its registration under a decree dated 3 July 2013 and houses the tomb of Michel de Nobletz.

The historic remains of Le Conquet include a house on Quai du Drellac’h with an exterior staircase and double door. The vaulted cellars bear witness to the prosperity of the wine and salt trade in the 16th and 17th centuries.

The Redoute des Blancs Sablons served to defend Blancs Sablons beach. It is also known as Batterie de Treize and formed part of a coastal defence system in which six installations were built and two infantry redoubts modernised between 1846 and 1852.
