Guimiliau: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Guimiliau is known above all for its large calvary. It was created between 1581 and 1588 in workshops in Landerneau and comprises more than 200 figures as well as scenes from the childhood and Passion of Christ. Due to its composition and the movement of its drapery folds, it is considered one of the largest in Brittany.

Culture

Built in the 16th and 17th centuries, the Enclos Paroissial de Guimiliau comprises a triumphal arch, a bell tower, an ossuary, a large porch, a church, a sacristy, a funerary chapel and a cemetery. The ensemble thus combines several architectural elements in a coherent sacred complex.

The Centre d’Interprétation de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine « Les Enclos » in Guimiliau features a 150 m² exhibition devoted entirely to parish enclosure ensembles. To present them, the institution uses wooden models, facsimiles, games and theatrical projections. It also has a 40 m² multifunctional room for introductions to tours, educational workshops, conferences and temporary exhibitions.

The Fontaine Saint Miliau depicts Saint Miliau as the king of Cornwall, with a torque, a sceptre and a sword; on either side stand two severely damaged depictions of Christ on the cross. The Lavoir Saint Miliau is notable for its single-sloped roof covered with stone slabs. At the back and on the sides, it rests on a wall, while at the front it is supported by three square granite pillars.
