Daoulas: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Chapelle Sainte-Anne was classified as a historic monument in 1862. Its nave and main façade date from the 16th century. In the Middle Ages, pilgrims gathered there while travelling on foot to Rocamadour or Santiago de Compostela.

Culture

Another historic landmark is the Moulin du Pont: it was founded in the 12th century and operated as a flour mill from 1936 to 1970. Renovated in 2005, the Moulin du Pont houses the Point I de Daoulas, an information point operated by the Pays de Landerneau Daoulas tourist office, during the two summer months. The Abbaye de Daoulas hosts exhibitions on cultural diversity.

A renowned market takes place every Sunday morning on Place Saint-Yves, continuing the trading tradition of the town of Daoulas.

Nature

The Jardin des Simples features plants representing the traditional pharmacopeias of the five continents. The garden overlooks the abbey church and cloister and offers views of the entire site and the surrounding countryside. Since 2016, the Jardin des arbres médicinaux has included a landscaped circular trail featuring a selection of medicinal trees and shrubs.

Numerous bird species, including herons, little egrets, curlews, gulls and cormorants, spend the winter and breed in the Daoulas estuary.

Things to Do

The GR34 long-distance hiking trail passes through Daoulas. From the Moulin du Pont, the mill museum, four trails lead visitors on a discovery of Daoulas’s heritage.

The walking loops in Daoulas are 1 to 8 km long; some sections are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
