Brasparts: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture

The Église Notre-Dame et Saint-Tugen in Brasparts bears the date 1551 on the door of the west façade, which serves as the base of the bell tower. The south portal is dated 1587 and decorated with niche figures of the apostles, as well as vault paintings featuring the attributes of the evangelists. The church, together with its calvary and ossuary, was classified as a historic monument by decree of 21 December 1914.

Older traces are also part of the local landscape: the megalithic stone-row monument “an Eured Vein” in Brasparts bears witness to the Neolithic settlement of this place. One part of the Alignements d'An Eured Veign in Brasparts was classified as a historic monument by decree of 13 September 1968; another part was listed as a historic monument by decree of 1 August 1980.

The Chapelle Saint-Sébastien was built in 1660 from granite extracted locally at the Carrière du Goël. It houses statues of Saint John the Baptist, Saint Roch and a bishop. On both sides of the nave are contemporary stained-glass windows by M-G Le Bars-Ateliers Loire. The coats of arms on the cross may correspond to those of the Huon family, which owned the nearby Squiriou manor.

The Office de tourisme de Brasparts organises cultural tours from 17 June to 17 September, explaining the parish district, the town and the Galeries des Singuliers. The cultural tour programme in Brasparts also includes the Chapelle Saint Michel in the uplands of the Terres du Milieu.

Hiking

The first loop of the Kalon Menez Are is just under 40 km long, comprises three stages and two or three days of hiking, is signposted in both directions and accessible from Brasparts. The accompanying guide to this loop contains route maps and hiking sheets, points of interest, information on accommodation, food and drinking water, as well as guidance on behaviour in natural areas.

The Kalon Menez Are is one of four loops of the GR® de Pays des Monts d’Arrée and uses, among other things, a section of the GR® 37 between Huelgoat and Mont Saint-Michel. In the wider regional area around Brasparts, it crosses sensitive natural areas of the Monts d’Arrée with remarkable biodiversity, including Eurasian curlews, Quimper snails, European beavers and freshwater pearl mussels.

The Au fil de l'eau circular walking trail is a moderately difficult hike covering 14 km, with a duration of around 3 hours and 15 minutes. In the Monts d’Arrée, it leads through the west and north-east of the municipality of Brasparts and provides access along the way to Brasparts’ religious heritage.

Activities

Ti Menez Are offers accommodation and meals for hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers, as well as for school groups wishing to experience the Monts d’Arrée on a multi-day trip, during short hikes and through leisure activities focused on discovering the environment. The Centre équestre de l’Arrée in Brasparts offers one- to multi-day horse-riding trips, riding lessons and rides.
