Arzano is shaped by two rivers: the Ellé borders the town to the west, and the Scorff to the east. Above the Scorff valley, the Motte castrale du Roc’h stands on a rocky promontory. It is around 15 metres high, has steep sides and is listed as a historic monument.

Landscape

An officially marked circular hiking trail follows the Scorff for more than one kilometre. It reaches the forests of Kerhoël via a sunken lane.

Historical Traces

Several historical periods come together in the Église Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens: the church was built in 1641 and later altered; the years 1744 and 1778 are recorded on the building. Inside are six stained-glass windows dated 1891 from the Anglade workshop, as well as a high altar with a canopy dating from the late 17th century.

The Auguste Brizeux monument was inaugurated on 11 October 1908. It is a granite stele in the form of an obelisk with a bronze medallion showing a low-relief profile of Auguste Brizeux.

Other buildings also bear witness to the history of the town. Moulin du Roc’h has been documented since the late 14th century. Moulin du Roch is a historic site that visitors can explore. The present building of Château de Kerlarec was completed in 1840 and extended in 1894.

The Chapelle Saint-Laurent is one of only two religious buildings still preserved in Arzano today. The rectangular building dates from the 16th century and was extended to the south with a deep side chapel. The chapel contains polychrome wooden statues of Saint Pierre, Saint Adrien and Saint Diboan.

Pont Kerlau is a three-arched bridge with rounded icebreakers and a horizontal base slab. It was built in the second half of the 19th century.
