Saint-Quay-Perros: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Saint-Quay-Perros is a place whose history and paths are reflected in several clearly distinguishable forms.

Paths

Circuit No. 36 comprises a large 13-kilometre loop and a small 9-kilometre loop; 5 kilometres of it run through Saint-Quay-Perros. The hiking trail leads from Pont ar Sauz to Saint-Méen. The small loop descends through the Cruguil valley.

Culture and History

The territory of Saint-Quay-Perros is home to the covered passage tomb of Crec'h Quillé, a communal burial site from the Late Neolithic period dating to around 2200 BC. The passage is aligned from east to west and has a lateral entrance. Opposite it stands a 1.80-metre-high engraved stone depicting the Mother Goddess.

The burial chamber of the covered passage tomb is 15.8 metres long. The tumulus covering it is still visible up to a height of one metre and is enclosed by pillars and dry-stone walls.

Churches and Chapels

The Saint-Méen Chapel is a seigneurial chapel from the first half of the 16th century, built from granite in the regional Gothic style. It has a southern extension. On its west side is a gable wall with a bellcote featuring an opening, reached by a staircase.

The parish church of Saint-Quay is a single-nave building made of granite rubble and stands within an elevated parish enclosure. Its west façade has a central tower with a projecting gallery and balustrade, as well as a bell tower with three openings. It is flanked by round stair towers.

Townscape and Tradition

Saint-Quay-Perros preserves one of the few cemeteries still located within a parish enclosure; a key is available from the town hall. A Saint-Méen Pardon takes place on Whit Monday at the Saint-Méen Chapel in Saint-Quay-Perros.
