Pludual: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The foundation stone of the Église Saint-Mayeux de Pludual was laid on 7 June 1871; the church is a neo-Gothic building.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Mayeux has an octagonal spire on a square tower shaft, with four large pinnacles at its base. The coat of arms of Pope Pius X can be seen on the tympanum of the side entrance. The 16th-century Manoir de Périmorvan towers over the centre of Pludual.

The Poul Ar Ranet Chapel, also known as Notre-Dame du calvaire de Poull ar Raned, was built between 1868 and 1895 and was revered by fishermen from Newfoundland and Iceland before their voyages to the great fishing grounds. The chapel contains a sculpture of the Virgin Mary with the Child, as well as a two-masted sailing ship as an ex voto.

Landscape and Trails

The rural landscape of Pludual includes ragosses, i.e. pruned oak trees that characterise the local bocage. The circular Circuit de la Danse Macabre trail passes through the rural landscape and bocage of Pludual and near orchards. It is 9.8 km long, takes around two hours, is easy and follows a circular route; its starting point is at the church in Pludual.

The circular Circuit des deux Chapelles trail is 8 km long, takes around one hour, is easy and follows a circular route. It starts at the Place de l’Église in Pludual and is considered accessible to all age groups.

Cycling Route

Pludual is connected to the signposted cycle-tourism circular route Tour du Leff. The route is 110 km long, passes through 27 municipalities and can be completed in full or in individual stages.
