Plouha: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Plouha combines a 14-kilometre-long rocky coastline with the Falaises de Plouha, the highest cliffs in Brittany. The Pointe de Plouha reaches a height of 104 metres. The Randonnée des Falaises de Plouha runs through this coastal landscape. It is a 15.79-kilometre circular trail that can be divided into two sections.

Coast and hiking

The Randonnée des Falaises de Plouha passes the Plage Bonaparte, the site of Alphonse's house, the Royal Air Force memorial stele, the Chapelle Saint-Samson, the Port de Gwin Zégal, the Pointe de Plouha and the Plage du Palus.

The Plage Bonaparte is also known as Anse Cochat and takes its name from a code name used during the Second World War. Access is via a tunnel carved into the rock. The Plage de Pors Moguer can be explored at low tide; as the tide rises, the access route is flooded.

History by the sea

The Port de Gwin Zégal is a historic anchorage dating from the 5th century and is still in use. Boats moor there with the help of ropes and chains attached to tree trunks. The Port de Gwin Zégal can be reached by descending a staircase.

The Chapelle de la Trinité is located at the highest point of Plouha and is mentioned in a document from 1354.

Chapels and remembrance

The Chapelle Kermaria An Iskuit contains a medieval wall painting of the Dance of Death, one of the rare wall depictions of this art form in France. The oldest parts of the Chapelle Kermaria date from the 13th century. During the summer, a guide accompanies visitors on tours of the Chapelle Kermaria.

An audio guide called “L’Évasion Shelburn” is available at the tourist office for an immersive tour. The Stèle Bonaparte commemorates the resistance efforts during the Second World War.

Activities on the water

The Centre nautique de Bréhec offers 1.5-hour kayak trips to the cliffs and caves of Plouha, accompanied by a qualified instructor. It also offers supervised sailing lessons with a qualified instructor every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year, depending on age and skill level.
