Laniscat: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Laniscat, traces of medieval religious buildings and megalithic sites extend to the heathland of Liscuis. Local features include chapels, churches, a historic workers’ cottage and signposted paths.

Culture and history

The oldest parts of the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Rosquelfen date from the second half of the 14th century. The tower of the Église Saint-Gildas appears to date from the 17th century; as a square tower, it is topped by an openwork lantern. The tower is classified as a historic monument, while the rest of the church is listed. The Église Saint-Gildas also contains a rare bell-ringing wheel.

The Trois allées couvertes site is located in Coat Liscuis in Laniscat. It was classified as a historic monument by decree of 18 November 1958. The Loge Michel, built around 1870 from slate slabs and slate tiles, is also part of the area’s history. It is one of the few surviving examples of this type of workers’ cottage, furnished with antique furniture and used as a venue for socio-educational and cultural events.

The Chapelle Saint-Gildas dates from the 18th century. The Fontaine Saint-Gildas has three basins. The Pardon de Saint-Gildas is celebrated every year on the last Sunday in January.

Landscape and paths

The Landes du Liscuis are located near Le Liscuis in Laniscat. They are heathland on acidic soils, with gorse, heather and broom, as well as shy wildlife. The heathland provides a habitat for the green lizard and the protected scarce fritillary. The three covered passages at Coat Liscuis are accessible via signposted paths.
