La Chèze: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château de La Chèze was built at the end of the 12th century by the Viscounts of Porhoët on a slate rock spur. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the Rohan family made the complex one of its most important residences.

Culture and History

The ruins of the Château de La Chèze have been preserved from the complex; they have been protected as a Monument historique since 2005 through official listing. The former moats of the complex were converted into a promenade.

The Église Saint-André was built in 1541. Formerly known as the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Croix, it became the parish church shortly after 1806. The Musée des métiers de La Chèze is located in a reconstructed former tannery.

Water and Surroundings

Between Plémet and La Chèze, the Base Sports Nature de Pont Querra organises water excursions to explore the Lié Valley. The Aire de l’Étang près de la cascade is located in the car park by the lake dam in La Chèze.

In the vicinity of La Chèze are the Abbaye de Timadeuc, a monastery, and the Église Saint-Nicolas, a church. Further afield in the region are the Château de Josselin, a castle, and Josselin Castle, a historic site. Bel Air is a mountain further afield in the region around La Chèze.
