In Riom, the architectural heritage reflects the significant periods of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the 18th century. The Sainte-Chapelle in Riom was built at the end of the 14th century by Hugues Foucher for Jean de Berry. It preserves a fragment of the True Cross and features a freely adapted form of late-medieval Flamboyant Gothic architecture.

The Tour de l’Horloge has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1862. The building offers self-guided visits to the former city tower, with permanent exhibitions, tactile models and a 360-degree panorama.

The Musée Mandet houses around 10,000 paintings, sculptures and works of art dating from antiquity to the 21st century. The Musée régional d’Auvergne presents more than 4,000 objects relating to rural Auvergne in the 19th century and to the region’s present-day inhabitants. Rural life and traditional crafts such as lacework and rosary making, spinning, weaving, stoneworking, pottery and basket weaving occupy a significant part of the exhibits.

For more than ten years, Riom has hosted free performances for the whole family throughout July and at the beginning of August.

There are 21 orchid species on the Colline de Mirabel, including ophrys mouche, ophrys araignée, céphalantère rouge and epipactis à petites feuilles.

The Parc Dumoulin is a landscape garden with a pond crossed by a bridge and notable trees.
