Lempdes Sur Allagnon: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The market hall in Lempdes-sur-Allagnon has been protected as a Monument historique since 2 May 1956. It has a semicircular shape, columns with different designs, and a roof reminiscent of the “Emperor’s hat”.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Géraud was handed over to the prior of Sauxilanges in 1078. The structure and some capitals of the medieval church have been preserved. Its apse and transept date from the late 11th to the 12th century; there are also two bays with groin vaults and a third bay beneath a dome.

The Grand Pont is a single-arch bridge built in 1772, with a span of 30 metres.

Water and paths

Between Lempdes and Beaulieu, the Béal diverts part of the Allagnon’s water over almost seven kilometres. A path along the Béal starts at Place du Bosquet and allows visitors to see three mills in the village centre, including a former oil mill with a visible, well-preserved water wheel.

PR418 Le Béal is a moderately difficult, 11.9-kilometre circular hiking trail starting from Lempdes-sur-Allagnon. It runs along the Béal and its old mills, then continues along the Allagnon. Hiking trails, a mountain-biking route and discovery trails make it possible to follow the Béal. A digital Béal route starts at the Salle polyvalente and leads through the village to its mills.

PR417 Les Amouroux is a trail above the Limagne offering views of the agricultural areas of the Brivadois and Lembron, as well as the surrounding Cézallier and Livradois plateaus.

Activities

The Le Rocher de l’Allagnon climbing area has 20 routes of all difficulty levels from 3A to 6B, with heights ranging from 7 to a maximum of 18 metres. There are shaded picnic tables there. Le Rocher de l’Allagnon is 300 metres from the car park at the Salle polyvalente and next to the campsite.

Lempdes-sur-Allagnon is the starting point for four mountain-biking circular routes in the VTT-FFC area “du Pays d’Auzon aux sources de l’Auvergne”.
