Culture and History

The Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption ou de Saint-Roch is originally Romanesque. The wall paintings in the choir probably date from the first half of the 14th century and depict, among other things, the childhood of Christ, the Last Judgment, and Saint Michael.

The prehistoric habitation site beneath the rock overhang Abri des Battants has been listed as a historic monument since 5 January 1989. It is associated with the Lower Paleolithic, Middle Paleolithic, and Upper Paleolithic.

The Croix du Mas has been listed in its entirety as a historic monument since 11 June 1930 and lies along the pilgrimage route of the Saint-Roch pilgrimage on 16 August.

Around 1.9 million years ago, a lava flow originating from the Pié-Rouge cinder cone flowed into the Allier Valley.

The GR470 hiking route leads into the center of Blassac, to the Église Saint-Roch, and through the village. The GR470 stage passes through the Allier Valley, with landscapes shaped by a Mediterranean-influenced microclimate, and reaches Blassac.
