The GR3 long-distance hiking trail runs through Bert. The mountain bike circuit Circuit n°99 VTT – De Droiturier à Bert is 37.2 kilometres long and classified as difficult.
The circular hiking trail Circuit randonnée de la Tour Pourçain partly follows the GR3 and includes fords, old stone features, and viewpoints, including a view of the village of Bert.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Laurent in Bert is fully protected as a historic monument; it was listed on 28 December 1926. Deposits of coal shale were first discovered around 1780 at Les Freschiers in the parish of Bert.
The Musée de Bert presents the permanent exhibition “La vie à Bert, hier”. In July and August, the museum was open from Friday to Sunday, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; visits for school groups were possible year-round by appointment.
Landscape and Surroundings
In the wider region surrounding Bert lies the Château du Crozet in ruins. Also located there are Billy Castle as a historic site, Grands Rocs as a mountain, Montmeugne as a mountain, the Abbaye de Sept-Fons as an abbey, Haut de Gaillefaut as a mountain, Bois Rond as a mountain, and Sainte Trinité de Anzy-le-Duc as a church.

Public fishing is possible at the Plan d'eau de la Grande Ouche with a valid departmental fishing permit. Bert has a mini-golf course. The Bert community swimming pool has a heated outdoor pool; supervised swimming is possible in July and August from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
