Culture and History
The Maison Louis XIV is a 17th-century shipowner's house in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, where Louis XIV lived for more than a month in 1660 during his wedding to the Infanta Maria Theresa. The Maison Louis XIV features 17th- and 18th-century furniture, a painted ceiling in the grand salon, the king's room, a period kitchen, and painted furnishings in the dining room.
The Maison de l’Infante, also known as Joanoenia, was built around 1640 by the Basque shipowner Joannot de Haraneder and accommodated the Infanta Maria Theresa in June 1660.
The oldest parts of the Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, including the vestibule bell tower and several windows facing Rue Gambetta, date from the 15th century. The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste can be visited independently; guided tours are also available. A duration of 30 minutes is specified for both individual and group visits.
Coast and Landscape
Sainte-Barbe Hill is a public park with children's playgrounds, a snack bar, benches, an orientation board, and a lighthouse, and offers a view of the Bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
