Bunus: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Othegañe Route traverses pastoral mountain country and offers views over the valleys of Larceveau and the sources of the Bidouze. It reaches the grassy summit of Othegagne at 516 m. The route begins in the church district of Bunus; there is a car park directly below the church. Along the route, traditional Basque sheep cheese, including Ossau-Iraty, is presented for tasting.

Nature

The Bidouze is one of the most important waterways flowing through the municipality of Bunus. The summit of Pic Nethé is located in the vicinity of Bunus. The summit of Pic de Belchou, Mont Lauriburu and the summit of Egurmendi are located in the area around Bunus.

Culture

The built-up centre of Bunus is divided into two parts: one part lies along the D918 and includes the town hall and school, while the other is set back from the road and includes the church and the fronton. Three very old gravestones are located beneath the porch of Bunus church.

The Ferme Aozteia in Bunus offers on-site tours, either independently or accompanied by appointment. By appointment, visitors can watch milking, cheese production and shearing there, as well as learn about life in the summer pasture. The Ferme Aozteia presents AOP Ossau-Iraty and AOP Kintoa as two complementary agricultural products.
