Gan: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The history of Gan includes the Ancienne porte de ville, known as the Prison. It has been listed as a historic monument since December 30, 1994. At the same time, it is the only surviving fortification element of the bastide of Gan, founded by Gaston II de Foix in 1335, and was later used as a prison.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Pierre also has a special architectural detail: above the nave and apse is a wooden barrel vault in the shape of an inverted ship’s keel.

The Gan Patrimoine en écomobilité route is an easy 4.4 km walk for everyone and is connected to TER line 55 between Pau and Bedous. Gan Patrimoine also includes an interactive and educational tour through the vineyards.

The Coteau de Bastarrous route is an easy 7.52 km, two-hour walk for families. It passes through vineyards, forests, and country lanes and offers panoramic views of the Pyrenees. The route also leads to Lac de la Teulère and its fossil site.

Nature

The fossil site at Lac de la Teulère was created when a former marl quarry filled with water and formed a pond. The Lac de la Teulère site is home to significant biodiversity in its bodies of water, riparian vegetation, forests, and meadows.
