Lucq-De-Béarn: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Circular route no. 32, “Vallon du Layous”, is an 8.7 km trail marked in yellow, with a walking time of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. It starts at the car park by the fountain in Lucq-de-Béarn and runs along small country roads or paths; along the way, it offers a panorama.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Vincent-Diacre has a nave with four bays, a semicircular apse and two side apses. The remains of the abbey are located near the church. A white marble sarcophagus from the 5th century was also discovered beneath the choir of Saint-Vincent Church.

The Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Vincent was built around 970–980 by Guillaume-Sanche, Count of Gascony. In August 1569, it was plundered by Protestant troops.

Several houses in the centre of Lucq-de-Béarn have doors with carved cartouches dating back to the 17th century. Lo Castet de l’Arquer is a Béarn noble house from the 16th century, characteristic of late medieval architecture.

Sightseeing

Saint-Vincent Church can be visited daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., except during religious ceremonies. The Cœur de Béarn Tourist Office offers guided tours of Lucq-de-Béarn and Saint-Vincent Church.
