The Goihena Mill in Licq-Athérey is operational. It was faithfully rebuilt in 2006 with walls made of clay and lime, a roof made of chestnut shingles, and a wooden water wheel.
Those who choose Licq-Athérey as their travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture
At the Transhumance Festival (Fête de la transhumance), the herds are led down and driven through the village; there is also a demonstration of sheepdogs. The Transhumance Festival (Fête de la transhumance) in Licq-Athérey is returning to Soule. The festival includes a market featuring local producers and artisans, as well as a meal prepared with regional products.
Nature
The 10.1-kilometre Intxuriste Aterei–Licq hiking loop begins in Athérey and passes through the foothills of the Pyrenees. The Intxuriste Aterei–Licq hiking trail leads to the ridge of Intxuriste and offers panoramic views over Haute Soule.
A cromlech near the Intxuriste hiking trail, together with several burial mounds, is considered evidence that shepherds stayed there in prehistoric times.
Activities
The Zalhagaña Bezkoï mountain-bike route is 16 kilometres long, very difficult, and has 750 metres of elevation gain. It forms a mountain-bike loop on the slopes of Pic Zalhagaña above Licq-Athérey and offers a viewpoint over the Lakhura-Orhy border mountains.
At Pyrénées Aventures Nouvelles PAN, caving is available from the age of three and canyoning from the age of eight. Pyrénées Aventures Nouvelles PAN has a water-sports base in Licq-Athérey at the foot of numerous canyoning, climbing and caving areas.
