Culture and History
The Château de Poyanne is protected as a historic monument and is being carefully restored. It evolved from a fortified house and a fortress into a prestigious residence. The history of the Château de Poyanne includes a fortified house built in 1206 and two pavilions added by the last Marquis in 1772.
The Église Saint-Barthélémy dates from the 19th century and was built on the site of a former castle chapel. It houses a fresco by Marie Baranger, as well as two chandeliers classified as objects under the historic monuments legislation.
Marie-Claire offers a guided discovery tour of the Église Saint-Barthélémy and the Château de Poyanne. During a guided tour around the Château de Poyanne, its architectural features and the history of its construction are presented, provided that the vegetation allows it.
When travelling to Poyanne, you may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
