Culture and history
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Suzan in Ousse-Suzan is protected as a historic monument. Its single-nave Romanesque nave, the polygonal choir dating from the 13th century, the porch from the 14th century and the outer porch from the 18th century are part of its appearance.
In the Église paroissiale Saint-Blaise d’Ousse, the oldest part is a Romanesque chancel, probably built at the end of the 12th or the beginning of the 13th century. The church was heightened and fortified in the 14th or 15th century. Its exterior also includes a triangular bell gable and an open porch in front of it.
The Chapelle Saint-Michel de Suzan stands in a clearing in the Landes forest near springs that are revered for their healing properties.
Nature and trails
The circular trail to the chapel and springs in Ousse-Suzan is approximately 9.9 km long and easy. On foot, it takes around 2 hours and 45 minutes; by bicycle, 50 minutes. From the village square towards Suzan, the trail passes through wetlands with different characteristics.

Traditions
The Saint-Michel fair in Ousse-Suzan is a rural open-air tradition dating back to the Middle Ages and listed in the inventory of France’s intangible cultural heritage. It has been held there every year on 29 September for centuries.
At the stalls of the Saint-Michel fair, Bourret, the season’s new wine, and chestnuts are offered.
