Nature

The former quarry in Angoumé is classified as an Espace Naturel Sensible des Départements, a protected area of departmental importance. A hiking and mountain biking trail runs through the former quarry in Angoumé. The former quarry offers a view of the Falaise de Tercis-les-Bains and the “œil du Hibou”.

The last marshes and peat bogs in Angoumé were drained at the end of the 19th century; however, some peat bogs have been preserved at l’Estanque. The Mur de César in the Barthes of Angoumé is a natural fortress. It reaches a height of 15 metres at the top and 30 metres at the “tête de hibou”. The Circuit de la Tourbière circular trail runs mainly through woodland in the section passing through Angoumé.

Culture

The parish church of Sainte-Eulalie in Angoumé was built in 1859–1860 as a private chapel for Celedonio Corta. It is a single-nave building in the Neo-Romanesque style, with ten round-arched lancet windows and multilobed rose windows on the east and west walls. On 20 July 1979, the d’Avezac de Castéra family transferred the parish church to the municipality of Angoumé.

The historic site of Château de Dax and the Cathédrale Notre-Dame church are located in the surrounding area of Angoumé.

The beaches Plage des Casernes, Plage du Penon, Plage des Bourdaines and Plage Nord are located in the wider surrounding region of Angoumé. The historic site of Abbaye Saint-Jean-de-Sorde is also located in the wider surrounding region.
