Aureilhan: Holiday apartments and houses

The “Tour du Lac” circular trail starts at the pontoon in Aureilhan. The route is 13.5 kilometres long and takes at least 3 hours and 30 minutes. In a clockwise direction, it is signposted with the official blue horizontal PDIPR marker and leads from Aureilhan via Mimizan, Sainte-Eulalie and Saint-Paul back to Aureilhan.

Nature and trails

The “Circuit de l'étang” circular trail takes in wetlands, the Promenade Fleurie and the Château de Woolsack around Lake Aureilhan-Mimizan as natural and architectural attractions.

Aureilhan has a Tèrra-Aventura trail that explores the Aureilhan wetland. QR codes are hidden in nature and lead to treasure caches. Aureilhan also has the “L'Arche de Zahan” Tèrra-Aventura trail.

The Lous Chivaus equestrian centre offers riding lessons and one- to one-and-a-half-hour horse rides through the forest for adults and children.

Water

The Plage du Ponton is supervised for swimming every summer in July and August from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Plage du Vivier, which is listed as a beach, is located in the wider regional area around Aureilhan.

Culture and history

The Sainte-Ruffine spring is located near the church on the site of a former chapel that was destroyed by a storm in 1955. The 12th- to 13th-century church of Aureilhan and its porch were completely renovated.

The landing stage of Aureilhan was built in 1910 by the Duke of Westminster to provide access to the Château de Woolsack on the other side of the lake, on the shore of Mimizan.
