The bastide of Hontanx was founded in 1331. Its preserved bastide gate has a wooden covered defensive walkway that protects the church bells and has been listed as a historical monument since 1962.
The Château d’Aon was probably built around 1300 on the site of an earlier wooden building. Together with the Logis d’Aon, the Chapelle Saint-Blaise and the motte-and-bailey castle mound, it has been protected as a historical monument by a decree dated 19 September 2019.
The Pont des Nasses dates from the 15th century and features masonry made of dressed stone in the Romanesque style. The Chapelle Saint-Blaise stands on an old feudal motte and overlooks the Étang d’Hontanx.
The Beffroi de Hontanx preserves a passage from the former town gate opening, square loopholes, a machicolation, a wooden covered defensive walkway and a wall-walk. The Chapelle de Loubens contains two large stained-glass windows depicting two saints, as well as two paintings.
The first documented mention of the mill on the Grand Étang is found in the 1331 contract for the construction of the bastide. The water of the Grand Étang formerly served as an energy source for the mill and as a water reserve during frequent periods of low water in the region.

Three hiking loops start at the Place du Foyer Municipal and lead through Hontanx and the surrounding countryside. The Circuit des Coteaux et des étangs starts in Hontanx, is 12.2 kilometres long, is easy, and can be used on foot or by mountain bike.
The Observatoire de Hontanx combines an educational trail, opportunities for hiking and an observation point on the shore of the Étang. The birds living there can be observed from this spot.
