The illuminations of the Beatus de Saint-Sever demonstrate artistic exchanges with Christian Spain and Burgundy. The abbey church of the Abbaye bénédictine et son abbatiale has a rare 11th-century choir termination with seven staggered apses.

Culture

The Benedictine abbey and its abbey church in Saint-Sever are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela. The Couvent des Jacobins was built by the Dominicans in 1280. The ground floor of the Maison du Docteur Sentex contains fully preserved Gallo-Roman mosaics from the 4th century, which are protected as historic monuments.

The Musée d'art et d'histoire du Cap de Gascogne covers the abbey of Saint-Sever, the Beatus and the town's archaeological past. It can be visited as part of a self-guided tour or with a specially designed app. The cloister and the former chapter house, now used as a treasury, can be visited freely at the Abbaye bénédictine et son abbatiale. The cloister of the Couvent des Jacobins is freely accessible during the day, except during certain events.

Guided tours of the Maison du Docteur Sentex are available exclusively according to a schedule provided by the tourist office.

Visitors to Saint-Sever may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
