Culture and History

The Church of Notre-Dame de Lit was built as a fortified church in the 14th century. At the foot of its bell tower is a stone Pietà dating from the 15th century. The carved door leaves from the 15th century at Notre-Dame de Lit are classified as historic monuments.

The Musée Landes d’Antan gives visitors an insight into the lives of people in the Marensin from the 19th to the 20th century. The museum’s barn houses a monumental pinasse.

Local Life

The seasonal market in Lit-et-Mixe takes place in summer on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fruit and vegetables, cured meats and cheese, fish, and regional products are available.

The iron-rich Source de Yons spring has been dedicated to Notre-Dame de Yons since time immemorial.
