The Château de Lacypierre is a typical Périgord château from the early 16th century, built on older foundations dating from the 13th century. It has a hexagonal tower. At the Château de Lacypierre, Isabelle and Florence personally show visitors around the château.
Culture and history
The Sainte-Marie-Sainte-Anne Church in Carlucet is an 11th-century church in the Romanesque-Byzantine style. It provides access to a cemetery with enfeus, whose graves are located within the thickness of the wall. Several information panels in the church explain the history of the building and the elements of its altarpiece.
The former priory and the cemetery in Carlucet have been listed as historic monuments since 12 October 1948. The Église de Saint-Crépin has been listed as a historic monument since 12 December 1975. The Carlucet site includes caves carved into the limestone or cavities enlarged and developed by people, which served as places of refuge during the Middle Ages and in difficult times.
Traces in the landscape
The municipality’s dry-stone huts are mostly round, built without wooden supports or mortar, and consist mainly of materials sourced locally. In the fields, they could be used to store tools; in the forests, some provided shelter for woodcutters, shepherds, charcoal burners or even poachers.
The cluzeaux of Carlucet are now difficult to access and are located on private property.
