Nature and Trails
The Boucle Bardovienne is a 4.2-kilometre circular trail starting in Bardou. It offers very easy options on foot, taking 1 hour 30 minutes, on horseback, taking 40 minutes, and by mountain bike, taking 35 minutes.
Along the Boucle Bardovienne are ponds, captured springs and wells indicating spring outlets located below the village. The route also passes the Chartreuse d’Entraygues.
Culture and History
The Église Saint-Blaise has a 13th-century chapel, a wall bell tower rising above the entrance portal, and an original entrance portal. It is an early Romanesque church built in the 11th century by three monks sent from Cadouin.
The Château de Bardou was formerly a fortress called Fort St John and served as a garrison during the Hundred Years’ War. It includes the remains of a 13th-century English fortress. The château is privately owned and cannot be visited.
At the hamlet of La Mouthe, an old moat surrounded a watchtower that served as a customs post in the Middle Ages.
Historic Routes
The Bergerac–Rocamadour Way passes through Bardou and Naussannes before reaching Beaumont-du-Périgord.
