On the southern slopes of the Vézère Valley near Pazayac, limestone hills and limestone plateaus form a causse landscape characterised by grazing land, cereal fields and a few orchards.
The alluvial, loess-rich Vézère Valley near Pazayac has a more open landscape; the forests have almost disappeared, and only a few hedgerows limit the view.

Culture and History
The Église Saint-Blaise de Pazayac is a church built in several phases; its sections date from the 12th, 14th, 15th and 17th centuries and include a funerary recess, a bell gable and a Renaissance altarpiece.
The Renaissance Château de Pazayac features projecting turrets, mullioned windows and dormer windows and dates from the 16th century. The 1830 Jacquerie at the Château de Pazayac inspired Eugène Le Roy to write his novel “Jacquou le Croquant”. The Château de Pazayac is privately owned and is not open to visitors.
The former Maison Pomarel in the centre of Pazayac dates from the 18th century. An old dwelling in Lamaze dates from the 17th century. An ancient Gallo-Roman road crosses Pazayac.
The stained-glass window depicting Saint-Mayaudon and Île Madame in the Église Saint-Blaise was inaugurated on 9 June 2012 and commemorates a priest with a tragic history.
The site of the Aéro-Club de la Corrèze in Pazayac was the setting from 1936 onwards for the first flights and the first aviation certificates in this local aviation history.
Getting Around
The “Pazayac et son histoire” route is accessible to pushchairs. The viewpoint on the Route du coteau, at the large bend, is suitable for watching the sunset.
Local Features
The disused horse-shoeing frame in Pazayac was used for shoeing animals, especially cattle, and is part of the village’s minor heritage.
Until the middle of the 20th century, the washhouse in Pazayac was a practical and social place for doing laundry and bears witness to the daily life, solidarity and social interaction of the village women.
The preserved livestock scales of Pazayac are now part of the village’s heritage.
