History
The Église de Florimont features major construction phases from the 12th, 17th and 19th centuries. It was listed as a historic monument by decree of 24 June 1977. Damage during the Hundred Years' War led to both the nave and the bell tower being raised to serve as a defensive refuge.
Landscape
The 23-metre-high Tour de Moncalou offers 360° panoramic views over the vineyards of the Chai du Vin de Domme and the surrounding municipalities. At the summit, there is an orientation table and a telescope; from there, the view extends over the Dordogne Valley in the foreground and as far as the distant foothills of the Massif Central. The Tour panoramique de Moncalou is freely accessible every day throughout the year.
The Boucle du Chai de Moncalou begins in Florimont-Gaumier. On this route, the path to the Tour de Moncalou runs between walls. The Sentier des Vignes footpath provides insights into the wine-growing landscape.
Wine and Regional Products
The Cave du Vin de Domme offers a free tasting of products from 17 founding winegrowers. The wines produced include white wine, two rosé wines and various red wines, including an oak-aged cuvée. The wine cellar is freely accessible, except during major operations such as cleaning or the grape harvest.
At Domaine de Lasfargues, visitors can tour the wine cellar and the farm buildings; some of these buildings date back to the 17th century. The estate produces white, red and rosé wines as well as Crémant, aperitifs, walnut wine, Ratafia and walnuts. The walnuts are marketed in the shell, as kernels or as walnut oil, and all products are organically produced. Tours and tastings at Domaine de Lasfargues are free of charge.
