Culture and History

The Musée André Voulgre showcases the Chartreuse Voulgre, a furnished 19th-century manor house. The informative tour of the Musée André Voulgre takes visitors through 17 rooms. When the museum was founded in 1977, the Chartreuse Voulgre formed its core. Mussidan is also home to the Église Saint-Georges, a 19th-century Romanesque Revival church built by the architect Abadie.

Local Life

The Marché de Mussidan takes place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Place de la Halle. There you will find local producers, a fishmonger, a butcher, a greengrocer, a market gardener, as well as non-food products.

Getting Around

The “Mussidan, les pieds dans l'eau” route can be reached by TER, which connects Bordeaux and Périgueux.

The “Sur la trace des Résistants” circular route is signposted with a green bicycle symbol, a depiction of a resistance fighter riding a bicycle, and an “R” stencil marking on the road. It leads into the La Double forest, where the Maquis camps, their organisation, the battles, the tragedies and the victories are explored. The Landais cycle route quickly reaches the paths and small roads in the La Landais forest.
