Issac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture

The chapel of the Château de Montréal was built around 1539 to house the relic of the Sainte-Épine. The Château de Montréal is partly listed as a historic monument and partly classified; the site is fully protected. Tours of the Château de Montréal take place from July 1 to August 31.

The Tour Saint-Jacques was built in the 15th century. The round tower is built over an underground room and has a spiral staircase; like the adjoining houses, it is also round. Since July 2, 1987, the Tour Saint-Jacques has been classified as a historic monument.

Trails

The Sentier des 10 000 ans is a 13-kilometre circular route. Around twenty years ago, it was organised by students from Issac as part of an educational project. At the edge of the forest, traces of a forge using bloomery furnace technology can be identified from slag remains.

The Sentier poétique is approximately 3 kilometres long, runs through the forest and features sculptures by Christophe Besse as well as framed photographs by Éric Solé. It begins at the car park northwest of the school in Issac.

Nature

The Boucle des 10 000 ans is designated for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. The Sentier des 10 000 ans leads to the Tourbière du Laquin, a peat bog away from the trail.
