The Église Saint-Étienne de Bassillac is known for its bell gable divided by two openings and its four side chapels. The four side chapels date from the 16th century. The church also contains a polychrome Pietà, also known as the Vierge de Pitié.

Culture

Northeast of the centre of Bassillac, Château de Rognac stands on the left bank of the Isle. During the Fronde in the mid-17th century, it served as a stronghold for the rebels. Château de Rognac has been listed as a historic monument since 12 July 1945.

The BD en Périgord Festival was founded in 1990 by the Amicale Laïque de Bassillac and gives a central place to young audiences.

Nature and Trails

The Boucle des Fontaines is a 5.5 km local circular hike. The route is estimated to take 1 hour and 30 minutes; the difficulty level ranges from easy to moderate.

Route BR® 4 leads from the centre of Bassillac towards Pont de Charrièras and the banks of the Isle. It is 4 km long and signposted as an out-and-back route. Just beyond Pont de Charrièras, there are benches and a picnic table near the wash house.

The Sentier de la Résistance runs around the former “camp Mercédès” maquis camp and includes thirteen stone and wooden sculptures.
