Lusignac preserves a historic architectural heritage without having been altered by modern buildings. You may wish to rent a holiday apartment for your stay in Lusignac. The village’s historic architecture includes the Église Saint-Eutrope, with its Romanesque bell tower and a bretèche, as well as its single-nave body and flat-ended chancel. A deep well, dating from the church’s foundation, is attached to the end of the chancel. A decree dated 17 December 1947 listed the Église Saint-Eutrope as a historic monument.
History
The centre of Lusignac developed around the parish church built in the 12th century. Houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved in the village.
The Château de Lusignac also dates far back: its oldest surviving parts date from the 12th century. The château also retains a late-16th-century gate in the style of Louis XIII, bearing the coat of arms of the de La Porte aux Loups family. The Château de Lusignac is a private residence that occasionally welcomes visitors.
Nature
La Boucle des Remparts offers beautiful views of the Verteillacoise countryside from the elevated village of Lusignac. The circular trail is a very easy walk that takes 30 minutes. La Boucle des Remparts is open year-round and free of charge.
