Lavalade: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Lavalade is the starting point of the 13.0-kilometre Boucle de Peyregude circular route. On section 10 of the GR36 from Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil to Prayssac, Lavalade is listed at kilometre 56 from the start.

The Boucle de Peyregude offers an easy horse-riding route lasting approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. The route is also designated as a nature trail with an interest in fauna and flora.

Culture and history

The church of Lavalade is dedicated to Saint Martin, more precisely to the translation of the relics of Saint Martin. It dates from the 12th century and has been rebuilt several times over the course of time. The former western façade is concealed by a modern bell tower entrance structure.

The Cromlech of Peyregude is a megalithic stone or megalithic site. The place name Peyrégude referred to a menhir associated with legends. The place name Peyrégude, located near Lavalade, derives from the Occitan Pèira Aguda and means “pointed or sharpened stone”.

The nearby church of Saint-Romain-de-Monpazier dates from the 12th and 13th centuries. It has a square choir and a single-nave bay arranged at right angles to it.
