La Cassagne: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Grange Dîmière in La Cassagne is a building dating from the 12th to the 16th century. It is a rural building from the 13th century in which the Templars left their mark; by a decree dated 14 May 1980, the Ancienne grange dîmière was protected as a historic monument. The transverse and ribbed arches of the vaults on the ground floor appear to date from the late 12th or early 13th century. It was restored in the 15th century and later served as the castle's stable. The Grange Dîmière houses the Musée SEM, dedicated to the Belle Époque caricaturist SEM.

Culture and History

The Romanesque Église Saint-Barthélémy in La Cassagne dates from the 12th and 16th centuries. It preserves parts of the original apse, the northern side wall, part of the southern side wall and the lower section of the façade; a side aisle was added on the south side in the 16th century.

The Presbytère de La Cassagne, adjoining the Église Saint-Barthélémy, was classified as a historic monument by a decree dated 24 August 1936. It has a projecting stair tower, 18th-century panelling and a large fireplace. At the same time, it is a remnant of a priory dependent on the Abbey of Saint-Amand de Coly. The Église Saint-Barthélémy and the adjoining buildings in La Cassagne are likewise remnants of a priory dependent on this abbey.

The cemetery cross in La Cassagne is also one of the protected historic monuments: it was protected as a historic monument by a listing dated 9 June 1926 and dates from the 16th century.
