Carsac-Aillac: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Les Jardins d'Eau extend over 4.5 hectares and are laid out as a walking garden with a variety of pools, tranquil bodies of water, cascades, streams and lush vegetation dominated by lotus flowers. In their aquatic labyrinth, more than 550 metres of level footbridges cross the water. The playful and educational tour features more than 200 identified plants around a pool covering more than 2,800 m². The gardens are open seasonally from 1 May to 30 September.

Nature

La Couasne d'Aillac is a former branch of the Dordogne that has become a connected wetland and aquatic habitat. The area is classified as a ZNIEFF, a Zone Verte and a Natura 2000 site.

Culture and History

The Romanesque tower of the Église Saint-Caprais de Carsac has six openings. Its choir is decorated with twelve freestanding paired columns and richly sculpted capitals.

A ivy-covered tower is all that remains of the Château d'Aillac's small fortress. The small fortress was besieged by the English in 1355. Its remains can be seen from the Voie Verte.

Le Séchoir d'Aillac is a renovated tobacco drying shed used as a venue for performances, concerts and events. The municipal washhouse was restored in 1952 by the Griffoul company from Bordeaux.

Trails and Local Events

The Boucle de Carsac follows the former railway line, now a Voie Verte, for part of its route. The Voie Verte de Sarlat is free of cars and motorised vehicles.

The Marché gourmand d'Aillac was scheduled for Friday evenings in July and August, as well as one Friday in September, from 7 p.m. Local and other specialities could be sampled there from the producers and craftspeople present.
