Culture

The Château de Bollwiller was listed as a historic monument on 19 November 2007. It is a Renaissance château on the plain and preserves a medieval entrance tower, former moats, coffered ceilings, and remnants of furnishings from the 18th century.

Bollwiller was first mentioned in 728 under the name “Baltowiller”. In the 12th century, a noble family settled in Bollwiller Castle; the village subsequently became the centre of a lordship that included Feldkirch, Pulversheim, Réguisheim, and part of Ungersheim.

The Church of Saint-Charles dates from 1852, while its bell tower dates from 1861. The church’s high altar was carved in 1686. The Manoir d'Argenson was built in 1738 and renovated in 1992.

The Société d'Histoire de Bollwiller holds an exhibition on changing themes almost every year.
