Nature

Culture

The monastery of Lièpvre, also known as Leberau, was founded in 750 under the influence of the Alsatian abbot Fulrad. The monks of Lièpvre Abbey are considered to have initiated the discovery of mineral deposits in the Val de Lièpvre.

The ossuary, later a cemetery chapel, is a cemetery chapel on Rue de l’Église in Lièpvre. It contains twin windows and a pointed-arch door from the former priory.

Trails

The trail follows the medieval Chemin de Charlemagne towards Schaentzel and is marked by the Club Vosgien Lièpvre/Rombach-le-Franc with a red-white-red rectangle.

The “Itinéraire vers le Schaentzel” takes approximately 3.5 hours, is 12 kilometres long (round trip), and has an elevation gain of 351 metres; the circular route starts at the car park of the salle polyvalente in Lièpvre.

The “Balade ludique à Lièpvre” is a 2.5-kilometre circular route lasting approximately 1.5 hours, starting at Lièpvre town hall. It presents the origins of the village, its wine-growing activities and its industrial development in a family-friendly way, using notable buildings and monuments.

The “Véloroute du Val d’Argent” offers a cycling and mountain-biking route from Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines to Lièpvre, running along the Lièpvrette valley.

Experiences

La Ferme d’Argentin is a 10-hectare visitor site with an animal and plant park featuring domestic animals and plants, gardens, crops, orchards, hedges and a historical tour. In addition, Ferme d’Argentin offers a 2-kilometre outdoor trail between animal enclosures, gardens, crops and orchards, conveying various historical periods through playful activities, from the prehistoric hunter-gatherers to the present day.

La Ferme d’Argentin can be reached via the Sélestat–Saint-Dié-des-Vosges TER line; get off at the Robert Guth stop in Lièpvre and walk the final kilometre.

Local life

The “Marché local de Lièpvre” takes place every Monday morning from 8 a.m. to noon on Place de la Mairie and offers regional specialities, handicrafts and products from the Val d’Argent.

GAEC Ménétré offers farm tours for individuals and groups by appointment; visits to the dairy are possible in the afternoon between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The farm produces and sells matured cheese, butter, fromage blanc and Tomme made from the milk of Holstein and Vosges cows.
