Hunawihr is located on the Alsace Wine Route, on the edge of the foothills of the Vosges, and is surrounded by vineyards. The “Grands Crus GEOVINO” wine education trail runs through the village. A free guided tour led by a winegrower takes visitors through the Grand Cru Rosacker vineyard, the village of Hunawihr and the Cave de Hunawihr. It ends with a guided tasting of wines from the Cave Vinicole.

Culture
The Church of Saint James the Greater has a double-fortified cemetery and is one of the region’s rare simultaneum churches. The fortified church and fortified cemetery date from the 15th and 16th centuries; the church contains 15th-century frescoes of Saint Nicholas.
The villagescape is characterized by narrow streets and winegrowers’ houses. Some of these houses feature half-timbering and have small, enclosed courtyards. Hunawihr is also a stop on the Heinrich Schickhardt European Cultural Route.
Landscape
A 2.4-kilometre playful circular trail allows visitors to discover the village of Hunawihr. The tourist Petit Train ride takes you through the village and vineyards, lasts around 45 minutes and offers commentary in 14 languages.
Hunawihr can be explored from the vineyards or via the forest paths. A 17-kilometre route in Hunawihr can be explored independently on foot or by mountain bike all year round.
Nature
At the Jardin des Papillons, visitors can walk among hundreds of exotic butterflies from Africa, Asia and America. NaturOparC is a five-hectare nature park in the heart of Hunawihr’s vineyards.
The “La biodiversité Hunawihr” circular trail is 2.9 kilometres long, takes around one hour and has parking facilities.
